The Shoei X-Spirit III is armed with the "CWR-F," a newly designed flat shield. In each section of the shield, the radius and width are precisely determined, and the optical efficiency is greatly enhanced. The CWR-F shield, made of polycarbonate, provides strong vision and sophisticated solidity in high-speed riding, eradicating deflection and kink for high-speed stability. Its integration with the QR-E shield base provides the flexibility to install and remove a shield, and the changeable axis double action mechanism ensures high airtightness.

The X-Spirit 3 was released in early 2016, and it's a significant upgrade over the previous model, with changes primarily aimed at usability – aero, stability, and a tweak or two to enhance ventilation. The previous helmet was a good performer in other areas, and it was SHARP 5 star rated for safety. The X-Spirit III's shell is made of Shoei's AIM+ shell, which is a complicated six-layered composite. Beyond fibreglass and "organic fibres," Shoei never says what's in their AIM+ helmets. Whatever is in there appears to be effective.
